We recently had the opportunity to meet with Emma Quantrill – Golden Leaves International Operations Director.

Emma pointed out while the company is well known for Funeral Plans and the support, removing the burden of arranging a funeral for grieving loved ones at what can be a very difficult and upsetting time.

Private Health Insurance

We spoke with Private Health Insurance Specialist Victoria, she explains how the Health Insurance policies that Golden Leaves offer are very comprehensive and good value for money.

They also offer a lot of benefits like, having no co-payments, use English speaking doctors at some of the top hospitals in Spain, do not have waiting lists, covers emergency travel care abroad and includes annual check-ups, dental cover, multi policy discounts, ambulance and emergency cover.

A few tips from Emma in her experience in General Insurance…

If you Plan to travel:

Not many people are aware once you are legal resident in Spain, then you do not have automatic free and unlimited access to the NHS, when you travel to the U.K.

You can get a Spanish EHIC, but this gives very limited cover compared to their Travel Insurance policy, which gives up to €10 million cover for medical. Up to €5,000 for travel cancellations and should the worst happen, all their policies include repatriation of the deceased and companion on the trip.

The Travel policies will cover up to 60 days on an annual multi trip policy and up to 180 days on a single trip policy.

Home cover

Whether it be your own residential home, a property you rent out short or long term or even if you are a tenant, Golden Leaves can offer a building and contents policy to insure your property, as well as coverage for high-value items outside the home.

They also offer a policy for Communities and Community Associations.

Emma added, “It is important to be open with your insurers, as there are factors that could affect the policy and indeed whether you will continue to be insured if you do not do this, e.g. you must let the insurers know if you are going to let your property out on a short or long term basis.”

Emma also noted that in December the policies allow an additional 10% cover to for any Christmas shopping, 25% free of charge on contents for valuables, bicycle and golf equipment are covered all risk in Spain only.

Car

Golden Leaves can provide competitive Car Insurance and they currently insure cars registered in Spain, UK, Gibraltar and Portugal. Emma highlighted that they will accept No Claims Bonuses (NCB) from previous policies, even if the bonus was not earned in Spain and how they can offer protection for your NCB.
